Frenchtown proved that October thrills are alive and kicking, even when caskets are involved, at the first Dead Heat Coffin Race on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
The showdown kicked off at 3 PM outside Bench Racers, where 14 teams checked in for time trials that seeded a head-to-head bracket. Crowds lined the 100-yard course. When the dust settled: 1st place Ghoul Runnings, 2nd place Tiki Terrors (pushing Wasted Away Again), Best Coffin to Tiki Terrors, Best Entourage to 360 RIP Permanent Retirement (pushing Dead Equity).
Afterwards a funeral procession made its way to Good News Brewing and Naked Tiki Distilling, where mourners were treated to a flash mob of zombies grooving to Michael Jackson's Thriller.
