The bags are flying again as one of New Town’s fastest-growing traditions returns for its seventh year! The New Town Throwdown Cornhole Tournament, presented by JW Events, brings a full day of competition, music, food and community fun to the heart of New Town.
Cornhole players of every skill level are invited to compete, with divisions ranging from Rec and Competitive to Advanced and Open. Whether you’re chasing the championship or just looking for a fun day tossing bags with a friend, there’s a division for you. And you definitely don’t have to play to join the party. Everyone is invited to come out, cheer on the teams, visit local vendors, grab some food and enjoy the atmosphere throughout the day.
The Throwdown is about more than bragging rights. $10 from every team entry will benefit Paint New Town Pink, with organizers working toward a $10,000 fundraising goal in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Adding to the party will be live music and DJ Supe, bringing high-energy entertainment to keep things going well beyond the tournament action.
With hundreds of players, spectators and neighbors expected throughout the day, attendees should also plan for several temporary road and parking closures. Amphitheater parking will be closed, New Town Lake Drive will be closed in front of the Wine Bar, and Rue Royale will be closed behind the stage. New Town’s alley network will still provide access throughout the area.
Playing or not, everyone is invited to the Throwdown. Bring your friends, bring the family and come be part of a New Town tradition that keeps getting bigger each year.
