One of the area’s most unique fall traditions returns as the Commemorative Air Force - Missouri Wing combines pumpkins, historic aircraft and a little friendly competition for an unforgettable day of family fun.

The event begins at 10:00 AM, pumpkin bombing at Noon!

The highlight is the Pumpkin Drop, when aircraft take to the skies and attempt to drop pumpkins as close as possible to a target below. This year’s competition adds an Army-versus-Navy challenge, with two bombers taking their shots before a small air demonstration continues the action overhead.

There’s plenty to experience on the ground, too. Guests can explore the Missouri Wing campus, enjoy aircraft flyovers and hands-on activities, and get an up-close look at the organization’s collection of authentic World War II aircraft and aviation history.

For those looking for an experience beyond watching from the ground, the Missouri Wing is also offering a rare opportunity to reserve a flight aboard its historic North American B-25 Mitchell, “Show Me.” Rather than simply seeing a World War II bomber in a museum, passengers can climb aboard and experience the sights, sounds and sensations of flying in an authentic warbird. Advance reservations are available, with proceeds helping maintain, restore and operate the Missouri Wing’s historic aircraft.

Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast, history buff or simply looking for something completely different to do with the family this fall, the Pumpkin Drop offers a memorable combination of living history, flying aircraft and seasonal fun—and the chance to see just how accurate a pumpkin can be from the air.
