7/11 & 7/12
The St. Luke's Big Shark New Town Triathlon takes over the community July 11-12, bringing hundreds of athletes, families, spectators, and volunteers to the streets and lakes of New Town for a weekend of competition and community celebration. Event organizers anticipate approximately 500 participants competing throughout the weekend.
Saturday, July 11, features the Kids Triathlon, sponsored by Big Shark Cycling, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The action continues Sunday, July 12, with the adult triathlon beginning at 7:30 a.m. Opening ceremonies will feature the National Anthem performed by local musician Rick Schroeder, followed by live music from Ed & Darren from 10 a.m. until noon.

The race has become a Midwest favorite because of its flat, fast course that winds through New Town's unique waterfront setting. Athletes can choose between the Long Course, featuring a .62-mile swim, 20-mile bike ride, and 4-mile run, or the Sprint Course with a .3-mile swim, 17-mile bike ride, and 2-mile run. Elite competitors, relay teams, and age-group racers will also compete throughout the morning.
Residents & visitors should expect temporary road closures and traffic impacts throughout New Town from 5 a.m. until noon on both Saturday and Sunday. Closures include portions of Rue Royale, Galt House Drive, and New Town Lake Drive as race participants move through the community. The closures are part of an approved St. Charles County event permit and safety plan.

The St. Luke's Big Shark New Town Triathlon is scheduled to take place rain or shine. Registration and additional event information are available at NewTownTriathlon.com and https://www.trisignup.com/Race/MO/SaintCharles/StLukeSNewTownTriathlon
