The Face Behind your Favorite Articles
By: Riley Talbert

Read enough issues of NTxConnect’s magazine and you may start to recognize a few familiar names popping up in the writing credits, Lindsay Sutton being one of the most notable! Our writers set out to highlight the individuals and local events that give New Town its characteristic, close-knit charm, but often don’t take the spotlight themselves. Luckily, for this column of Faces of NTx, you’ll get to know one of our magazine’s most prominent writers.
Lindsay is practically a staple of New Town, having lived here with her family since the community was first established in 2005. “I fondly recall those very beginning days and the people that, like me, took a chance on something that we could only imagine and hoped it would pan out like they planned.” Soon after settling in, her fondness for this small, new development only grew, admiring the colorful homes and their architectural originality. Beyond aesthetics, however, she found herself building lasting relationships with fellow residents–even meeting her future boss here–allowing her to work right from home in the heart of New Town.

Lindsay has always had a love for writing, even starting her own parenting blog when her son was a toddler. Her unique, comedic writing style brought in a following of people who enjoyed her witty anecdotes, allowing her to use writing as a creative outlet. However, when given the opportunity to write for NTxConnect, she found herself able to combine this creativity with her love for her community. “I had been reading one of the Community Hero articles and I thought I had the perfect person in mind for a nomination so I sent it over. A few weeks later I was told that my suggestion was chosen and was asked if I would like to write the article myself, and of course I said yes!”
And the rest is history! Since that first article, Lindsay has been a regular writer for the magazine, often contributing to the Community Hero column. “I enjoy highlighting people that I know because I think I am able to use my personal relationships and writing style to give readers a good picture of who a person is and why they matter.” Above all else, Lindsay keeps people at the heart of her writing, firm in her belief that the residents of New Town are what make this community so special and unique.

Beyond the office, Lindsay enjoys spending time with her family in their newly-built cabin, focusing on togetherness and connecting with nature. “We are slowly turning it into a magical place to explore, a haven for wildlife, and hopefully a place that my family will treasure for generations to come.” You can still find her around St Charles, often hiking and foraging with her family. In both her personal and professional life, she always centers people and connections, making her one of NTxConnect’s strongest voices. “New Town wouldn't be the special place that it is without the community aspect of it, and you can't have that without good people,” Lindsay affirms. “I think it's important to break it down to a personal level and tell the stories of the people who are all around us, making this place what it is.”
