Frenchtown Connection

If you’ve spent any time on the local trails lately, you’ve likely seen the quiet hum of an electric revolution. At the heart of that movement is Juiced Wheels, a premier full-service e-bike center celebrating their third year in the Frenchtown neighborhood.

Like many small businesses, Juiced Wheels faced a steep climb last year due to international supply chain hurdles and tariffs. However, the outlook for 2026 is bright. New stock is flowing in as vendors diversify their sourcing. Sales are soaring as more than ever, people are seeking a relaxed, recreational way to enjoy our beautiful Missouri scenery.

Finding the right bike can be intimidating, but the team at Juiced Wheels specializes in matching riders to their perfect setup. “Let us know what you want out of your bike, and we will help you find the perfect fit, " says Brett Bartrum, owner. From size to range to speed, Juiced Wheels has something for every skill level and level of mobility. Whether you are a seasoned pro or a total beginner, Juiced Wheels is ready to help you rediscover the joy of riding.

Bartrum has noticed e-bikes with smaller 20-inch tires have become the shop favorite. They offer a nimbler, more comfortable ride that works efficiently with the motor without the bulk of a traditional 26-inch frame. The Big Sur Sport model is a breakout star for its agility and ease of use.

For those seeking extra stability, the shop offers popular three-wheelers from brands like Velotric and Lectric. These "trikes" feature a rear-motor trans-axle design, providing superior traction and maneuverability for seniors or those with mobility concerns.

What sets Juiced Wheels apart isn’t just what they sell, but also the service they provide. Bartrum, a software developer by trade, created Shop Shepherd—an AI-based program used by bike shops nationwide. "Shop Shepherd is a comprehensive guide that helps mechanics find answers for almost any e-bike brand instantly," says Bartrum.

The program includes over 30 training videos recorded by staff member Alex, an engineering student at the University of Missouri. This means when you bring your bike in for service—regardless of the brand—you’re getting repairs backed by cutting-edge technology and a massive digital library of information and service manuals.

Safety and comfort are the priorities at Juiced Wheels. With an extensive inventory of accessories, you will find anything you would need to enhance your e-bike experience. Comfort seats, mirrors (Bartrum suggests you have at least one mirror mounted on the left handlebar), comfort grips, bike locks, digital pumps for tires and adjustable cup holders. The most important accessory is a good helmet. They have a great variety of safety helmets, but Sena is one of the most popular helmets. They have built-in walkie-talkies so you can easily converse with your riding partner.

Juiced Wheels emphasizes the importance of test riding before making a purchase. Offering rentals and guided tours, along with free test rides on a wide selection of models, allows prospective buyers to experience e-bikes firsthand. Whether you are a seasoned pro or a total beginner, Juiced Wheels is ready to help you rediscover the joy of riding.

E-bikes offer a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to traditional transportation, extending benefits beyond personal health to social engagement and environmental stewardship. By allowing riders to travel further with less exertion and tackle hills with confidence, they encourage more time outdoors. Ultimately, e-bikes serve as reliable transportation that reduces car dependency while promoting a more active lifestyle.
