5:30-8:30pm

This Fourth of July, New Town residents and visitors will enjoy a unique hometown connection when nationally touring Americana band The Sea Monks performs at the Amphitheater as part of the community's Independence Day celebration.

While the band is based in Southern California, its ties to New Town run deep. The Sea Monks feature brothers Noah and Kai Kapchinske alongside their father, Jason Kapchinske, with the family's connection to New Town coming through longtime resident Doris Wiley, mother and grandmother to the musicians.

The Sea Monks have built a reputation as one of Southern California's rising roots-music acts, blending Americana, rockabilly, blues, outlaw country, funk, and roots rock into a sound that is both timeless and energetic. Their live shows feature driving rhythms, impressive musicianship, and original songs influenced by artists ranging from Johnny Cash and Chet Atkins to classic rock and blues legends.

The band's authentic approach has earned them performances at notable venues across the country, including Austin's legendary Continental Club, Nashville's Basement, New York's Waylon, and Southern California favorites such as Belly Up Tavern and The Echo. Their most recent album, New Dreams, continues a string of critically recognized releases that have helped grow their audience well beyond the West Coast.

What audiences often remember most is the band's ability to bridge generations of American music. Whether delivering a foot-stomping rockabilly tune, a blues-infused guitar showcase, or an Americana ballad, The Sea Monks bring the spirit of classic American roots music to modern audiences.
